In an exclusive conversation uniting speakers in Italy, Denmark and Melbourne: Cult Design, in partnership with Fritz Hansen, present In Conversation with Carla Sozzani & Christian Andresen.

Bringing together acclaimed design curator, editor and gallerist Carla Sozzani and Christian Andresen, Head of Design at internationally renowned Danish brand Fritz Hansen, this live conversation moderated by Indesign Editor Jan Henderson will explore the process behind creating a new colour palette for one of Fritz Hansen’s most iconic designs, and dive into the importance of colour in design more broadly.

Carla Sozzani

Carla Sozzani is well known as the founder of 10 Corso Como, the Milanese concept store – possibly the world’s first ‘concept store’ – which she founded in 1991. She is also a gallerist and editor, having worked with the likes of Bruce Weber and Herb Ritts and collaborated with Azzedine Alaia and Rei Kawakubo.

She has put on exhibitions with Annie Leibovitz, Helmut Newton, David La Chappelle and Steven Meisel in her own gallery and at the Maison Européenne de la Photoraphie in Paris, among other locations.

Sozzani is also a long-time admirer and collector of Danish design and collaborated with Fritz Hansen on a new palette of 16 colours for iconic Arne Jacobsen designs in 2020.

Christian Andresen

Head of design at Republic of Fritz Hansen, Christian Andresen was design director at Henning Larsen Architects for nearly 10 years before swapping positions at the table.

Fritz Hansen – is an exclusive, international design brand whose timeless collection unites world-famous classic and contemporary furniture, lighting and accessories. Founded in Denmark in 1872, Fritz Hansen’s highly distinguished Classic Collection comprises a number of the most iconic pieces of furniture from renowned Danish architects and designers, including Arne Jacobsen’s Egg™, Swan™ and Series 7™ chairs and Poul Kjærholm’s PK22™ chair and PK80™ daybed. The Contemporary Collection features new furniture and accessory designs from some of today’s most inspiring, internationally recognized modern designers, including Jaime Hayon, Piero Lissoni, Kasper Salto and Cecilie Manz. Today as in 1872, Fritz Hansen’s work is guided by the philosophy that a single piece of furniture can beautify an entire room or building – and heighten the well-being of the people who inhabit these spaces. With an international presence and an ever-expanding collection of iconic designs, Fritz Hansen continues its journey of creating elegant, human interior design essentials that never compromise on comfort, and to strengthen its place in the global design, luxury and lifestyle elite.
